Computational Approaches to Ancient Genome Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent advancements in sequencing technologies have made it possible to sequence large quantities of the DNA preserved in ancient remains. This DNA differs from modern DNA in three key aspects. First, the DNA is fragmented into short molecules. Second, the DNA is damaged leading to misreads bases during sequencing. Last, molecules from the ancient species are mixed with molecules from microbial species. These three properties of ancient DNA pose a challenge to the analysis of the sequences gathered from ancient remains.

Comparative analysis between qualitative norms of ancient Iranian urbanism and western urban design approaches
The rich identity, originality and validity of the “Ancient Iranian Urbanism and Architecture”, always have been stimulating the urban designers and planners to have research about their valuable qualities and historical principles. Unlike the past, today’s Iranian cities have inefficient urban qualities; because they are inspired by the western urban designs, without paying attention to their ...
متن کاملLarge-scale analysis of pseudogenes in the human genome.
Pseudogenes are considered as genomic fossils: disabled copies of functional genes that were once active in the ancient genome. Recently, whole-genome computational approaches have revealed thousands of pseudogenes in the genomes of the human and other eukaryotes. Identification of these pseudogenes can improve the accuracy of gene annotation. It also offers new insight on the evolutionary hist...

متن کاملGenome-wide computational prediction of miRNAs in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) revealed target genes involved in pulmonary vasculature and antiviral innate immunity
The current outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)in China threatened humankind worldwide. The coronaviruses contains the largest RNA genome among all other known RNA viruses, therefore the disease etiology can be understood by analyzing the genome sequence of SARS-CoV-2. In this study, we used an ab-intio based computational tool VMir to scan the complete geno...
متن کاملSelective enrichment of damaged DNA molecules for ancient genome sequencing.
Contamination by present-day human and microbial DNA is one of the major hindrances for large-scale genomic studies using ancient biological material. We describe a new molecular method, U selection, which exploits one of the most distinctive features of ancient DNA--the presence of deoxyuracils--for selective enrichment of endogenous DNA against a complex background of contamination during DNA...
